You know, I have to say KyoAni fans are by far the worst group around right now. Usually they mind their own business but once this got announced to be JC Staff…and now that it’s finally airing, they truly are the most insufferable bunch. They are truly just a pathetic group. Hell here’s a great example; they all claimed how KyoAni kept, in their Key adaptations, the voices and music from the games exactly the same was great. It was a wonderful thing, and I agree, and guess what – JC Staff has done the same (aside a couple seiyuu that simply were not possible to get due to various reasons) – but what happens? Oh, when KyoAni does it, it’s a wonderful masterpiece idea – but when JC Staff does it ITS REHASHING AND RECYCLING THE SAME SHIT FROM THE VN, LAZY, CHEAP, CRAP IDEA.
You fucking kidding me? Go fuck yourself KyoAni fanboys, at least stop being hypocrites. I like most of their shows but you guys are just goddamn disappointing.
OH GOD HE LOOKS SO AWFUL OH MY GOD JC STAFFFFFFF THIS IS MORE LIKE BUDGET BUSTERS OR LITTLE BUDGET LOOOOL I MEAN LOOK AT HIM HE LOOKS TERRI- oh wait he looks fucking great and the exact same as he does in the game.
Now, why start off with that? Because, JC Staff has done an incredible job of adapting this show so far – even if it’s only one episode. From the very start I felt like I was right back into playing the visual novel, and the animation was an added bonus, hell I got goosebumps at one point. Is it the most beautifully animated thing in the world? No. But it is pretty fucking nice, especially compared to other stuff coming out in the past few years. It’s also got a great style that mirrors that of the VN. Plus, unlike Clannad which had entire arcs and a full character just deleted out by KyoAni (due to being a male character – and thus not “moe” enough to include when sales are all that matter), this looks like it’ll contain all the main characters and important parts the VN had. If you ask me, JC Staff, in one episode, has proven that they are going to do a better more accurate job of adapting this than KyoAni has done with any Key titles. But even if you disagree, it’s not arguable that this is actually pretty good and not the OH MY GOD HORRIBLE TERRIBLE TRAGEDY HOW COULD JC STAFF DO THIS that the KyoAni fanboys are still making it out to be.
As for the show, great start, and the new seiyuu for Riki did well. In the VN he was voiced by the girl who does Rin (as he only had a couple voiced lines and grunts, mostly used during baseball practice minigames), so they had to hire someone else, and I think she does a good job of sounding like a really weak girly boy – which Riki is supposed to be. Everyone else is delivering the same great performances as in the game. I also love how they kept the small bits like the fighting minigame’s stuff and the nicknames popping up in the same way when they get a new one. They also did a great job of, just like in the VN, giving Kyousuke that main character feel, while Riki feels kind of like just part of the group (which he is) instead. I always loved that about the VN and it’s carried into the anime well.
I mean fuck, they even kept in the hilarious proverb/quote part from the VN and did it THE EXACT SAME WAY. That’s not a bad adaptation, that’s fucking great. Surprisingly, again just like the VN, Riki actually doesn’t have many lines compared to everyone else. It’s these small things that by appearing in the show really make me happy with the overall product. They not only got the bigger aspects right so far, but even the subtle shit that, no doubt, some certain OTHER companies would have ignored.
It really truly feels like what it should – an adaptation, it feels just like it’s original source only with the extra bonus of being animated. It almost felt nostalgic even.
And oh god, the next episode preview. I’m so glad they included this, the baseball minigame was seriously addictive and fun even if it was super simple, and I always thought the sprites were cute, so it’s awesome to see them in the show.
24 Frames Per Second 
Before I forget, I’d like to mention another example of KyoAni blatantly ignoring the source material in order to pander for higher sales. As already mentiond there’s removing an ENTIRE CHARACTER AND ROUTE from Clannad – removed BECAUSE IT WAS A MALE CHARACTER and not another cute girl to pander to otaku with – and some changes to the end of Kanon which made it kinda meh, and now I remember FMP:TSR.
Full Metal Panic : The Second Raid is an awesome show, it really is. Obviously it’s a sequel so don’t watch it without seeing the first season! But, just to make it quick; in the novels there’s a mysterious male assassin trying to kill the main character throughout this arc. KyoAni, in all their money grubbing ways, decided that a cool male who was actually interesting was no good, so they entirely removed him. However, instead of JUST removing him, they replaced him with INCESTOUS LESBIAN TWIN GIRLS who spend half the show naked or making out with each other. That might sound great and all, but even if you like that, it REALLY takes away from the quality of the show and ENTIRELY shits on the source material. And really, it’s just such an obvious way to get more sales it’s hilarious. They didn’t even replace the guy with ONE girl who has some fanservice, they went and made two of them, made them blood related, and made them pretty much fuck each other half of every episode.
KyoAni is by far the WORST company when it comes to adaptations. Fanboys can suck my dick. You guys whine about JC Staff but when the fuck has KyoAni made a single adaptation that didn’t change big plot points and characters to make more money? NEVER. And when has JC Staff made an adaptation, removed a hugely important main character, and then replaced another main character with some girls who make out and are naked 90% of the time? NEVER.

I loved it. The humour was spot on, the attention to detail was amazing, there was nothing about it I disliked.
J.C have done a great job, and I hope they keep it up for the rest of the show.

1. It isn’t KyoAnifags causing a storm, it’s Keyfags. KyoAnifags are happy to eat whatever KyoAni serves them.
2. The anger doesn’t stem from KyoAni not doing Little Busters, but rather J.C. Staff doing Little Busters. KyoAni is used as an example because they’ve done Key adaptations before, but we’d be happy with P.A. Works or any other studio that was actually competent.

More importantly, I don’t see the cherrypicking, I didn’t even show any specific scenes – I took 4 random screens while watching so they are what I used in the post. The animation and art in the entire episode was nice, not some masterpiece, but nice, which is exactly what I already said. Hell, 2 of those pics aren’t even of the anime art, and one of the only 2 left is low quality and from a flashback so it looks like shit. I didn’t cherrypick anything. Please stop misusing words just because you see them on 4chan.

Really not the standard that has come to be expected of anime in this day and age. I suggest you rewatch it with a less biased view. Take a look at how they draw faces at a distance. Clearly you haven’t been involved in many communities, have you? Here’s a KEY fan who isn’t a KyoAni fanboy. KyoAni fanboys are too busy watching Chuunibyou and probably haven’t explored Key outside of its anime adaptations. I myself have said, along with many other Key fans, that we aren’t mad KyoAni isn’t doing it. We’d be happy if any competent studio was. Instead we have the studio that did Tsukihime.

My point is “The show looks awful”. Your point is “No, it doesn’t”. We really can’t get much further than that. I post screenshots that look terrible. You say they look good. One of us must be wrong and I’ve yet to see an argument on your side. To be perfectly honest, aside from the horrible art and animation, I actually enjoyed the first episode. It surprised me. It was mostly faithful and had good pacing. It could have been a hell of a lot worse.

Yes, they have. Azumanga Daioh, Honey and Clover, Revolutionary Girl Utena, they’re all fantastic series that I love. However, they have NEVER, not ONCE done a good visual novel adaptation.

I haven’t just played it, I have a first press limited edition copy of the original release, which I’m pretty sure is more than you can say about that pirated version you’ve got over there. Actually, I own the entire Key library of original release first edition limited press copies. Planeterian’s extremely limited press and it’s original press of the text novel included, of which I believe only 500 were ever even made before re-print versions. For several I have more than one copy due to a voiced version releasing later.
